Ok...I feel like I may be nit picking here but....

In the segment comparing the war for independence to the Civil War, I belive that the point was brought up that the battle of Serenity Vally was NOT the actual end of the war, it was just a decisive battle. The timeline given in thi episode usues the battle as a refrence to the the end of the War. I was going to Email this directly, but I think it would be interesting to hear what other thought on this subject.

I had always assumed that the battle of Serenity Valley was the end of the war until I heard that peice. I belive it is said in the show that it was the decisive battle (I don't know what episode and my DVDs are out converting other at the moment), but that doesn't make it the actual end to the war. I am wondering if there is any evedince that Serenity was the final battle vs just a decisive battle. Just curious what others thought...

(Sound clip of William Shatner on SNL yelling "GET A LIFE" is now in my head...I feel like he is talking to me)

Interesting. I never thought of that. I'll check later to see what it says in the Visual Companion, coz there's a lot of good info from Joss about the war in there.

Fortunately, it doesn't matter too much. Our Mrs Reynolds still has to be in October. The interval between The Train Job and Bushwhacked still has to be three months, and the interval between Shindig and Safe still has to be three weeks, so U-Day must still have been May or June. If I was out, it can only have been by a few weeks.

I think it's in "Bushwhacked" that the Alliance officer makes an observation to Mal about Serenity Valley which implies that the battle was the end of the Independent cause--near the end of the war, though perhaps not the actual end of the war. Something like, "Some people say..." If the battle was the actual end of the war, then surely everyone would say....

Another great show... and though I appreciated the effort I'm glad that the RPG portion was missing from this show. I wasn't going to speak out against it as it was well done, but imo it spoke to a small niche of the Firefly fans and didn't do much for me personally. I definitely don't miss it now that it's gone.

Sorry to do this but... Stirling is NOT in England. UK: yes. Scotland: yes. England: no.

I guess it should have been my job to spot that, being from England. When I heard the segment, I thought "Stirling? Where's that? Never heard of it", but it just didn't occur to me that it might be in another country!

That list of cinemas is supplied to us by the web site cantstoptheserenity.com. It says "UK" in that list, so we are guilty of misreading "UK" as "England". I do live in England, but I don't live in Scotland, and I don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all place names in the UK. But I will try to make sure that we read the list verbatim in future.

Anyway - hopefully the list was still useful to people Smile

You spoke prematurely. It's not gone. Razz All of our regular segments get a week off from time to time. Even the email segment had a week off once. Adventures in Serenity will be back in show #5.

Sorry it's not your thing, jab, but nobody likes everything, and every single segment has both supporters and detractors, which is why we like to provide variety. From our email, we know that lots of people like this segment a great deal. It's a five part mini-series, and, unlike Fox, we don't cancel mid-season!

I've gotta take the hit for that one. I am responsible for the confusion-causing & inaccurate substitution of England for UK.

Shocked Surprised It's coming back! No...

Only kidding of course. I do appreciate the effort and to give the segment it's credit, even though I can't associate with the RPG subject at all it still tends to be an interesting perspective on our favourite show/film. Plus I realize, you've got to talk about something in between movies! Either way it's not hard to find the fast-forward button should I ever have the need and it's good to know that people are enjoying it.

I am curious though... every segment has detractors? Good lord, we're hard to please! I've loved them all up until this, and like I say I even appreciate this segment in it's own way. How could one not like "How to Speak Chinese"? That's just crazy!

It's true. We have had emails from people saying they don't like the How to Speak Chinese segment. Unbelievably, we even got one email from someone who didn't like the Bubbafett Those Left Behind reviews Shocked and seemed convinced that we must have owed the guy a favor or something, when of course the truth was that we heard those segments and thought Wow! Must have must have! Want more want more!. They were gorram shiny!

"Adventures" has just gone up to being a six-part series, by the way. Smile

Tell you what - if you have any ideas for a segment with which to replace it when it reaches the end of its run, do post them on this forum (but probably not in this thread, coz that would be silly - we can't go back and put new segments into episode 4 Laughing )

Just thought I would say I really love these podcasts. As you can tell I'm new here, but I'm getting caught up.

I was wondering if the Time-line article will be available in written form?

Thanks for all your efforts.

No, Kate, no! You don't want to encourage me to come out of my cave and give you more useless advice on what to do with The Signal! No! I spout off enough as it is!

Ah well, certainly not yet. Once upon a time we had plans to put all of the Season 1 articles into a print-on-demand book, but due to time pressure, we never got round to it. The problem is that in a lot of cases, the articles themselves often contained inaccuracies which we corrected over the following weeks, so in order to put them into a book, we would have had to have gone through all the scripts and fixed all the mistakes, and none of us really had the time.

I suspect it will be a similar story with the timeline article. I imagine there will be corrections to be made as we discover them. Already, someone has pointed out that May 2511 marks the end of the battle of Serenity, but not necessarily the end of the war. So the war might have ended in June, which would mean that my dates for all episodes before Our Mrs Reynolds may have been up to four weeks out. If I were going to publish that article in written form, I would certainly want that observation in there. And there might by others still to come - our listeners are very smart and spot things like that!

We'll probably just publish a timeline somewhere on the website, once the podcast article has had enough scrutiny. In the meantime, check out Edward Governo's Firefly Timeline, which agrees with mine on most (but not all) details.

Libsyn (our hosting provider) is currently doing something slightly off (RFC violation) with their hostnames. Some people are having problems downloading this episode because of it. I will provide more information when it becomes available.

First: love the show. Great as always.

Second; you guys made a little goof in the shownotes for this episode. The link to the Josscentricality in the shownotes is wrong; it doesn't lead anywhere. The right link is http://josscentricality.twonutters.com. Since you gave 'em such a big plug, I thought you'd wanna make sure you had the right address.

Keep up the good work, stay shiny, keep flying, have good sex, and all the other Firefly ways of saying "goodbye"!

Actually, it's http://josscentricality.twonutters.com/html/podcast.htm

The link you gave leads to the two nutters entry page, which in turn takes you to a news page. What we want is the podcast page.

Anyway, thanks for pointing out our error. It is now fixed.
