I had a lot of people & projects to thank. I hope I got them all It was a great article to write, it really got me thinking about how lucky we are as browncoats to have all we do.

| I listened to Show #22 a couple days back and enjoyed it, particularly the games and sport feature and the mention of the United Fan Con in the Email section. |

Les, Kari (sp?),
I wanted to let you know I was very much moved by your recent podcast...specifically the "Thank you" section. I was upstairs doing some handywork with my ipod and I had to stop what I was doing. I sat on the floor, moved. I nearly burst into tears.
I hit pause, walked downstairs and gave my pregnant wife a hug.
"What is this for?" she asked.
"You married a big sappy geek" I replied.
She smiled. "I know. And I love you for it."
Thank you for the reminder of all the things we have to be thankful for. I am thankful for the Signal and Firefly Talk for keeping the torch burning and to thank you I made a banner that you can use and customize to your heart's content.
You are appreciated, and I thank you for all the time, effort and energy you put into this thankless job...which of course is why I am thanking you now.
Regards,
Plastic Rocket. _________________

I just wanted to add my thanks to what I'm sure will soon be a very long list. I am very thankful to the Signal and Fireflytalk for introducing me to the whole Browncoat Community. If it weren't for you guys i wouldn't be a Browncoat Firefly would just be a show I really liked. I know you guys deserve a rest for the Holidays but you do know I will be in an agony of anticipation in the gap between the Christmas special and the start of season 3. I'll just have to rely on fireflytalk to see me through the lean times. Plastic Rocket I know exactly how you feel. I listened to that section with a big soppy grin on my face. There was no one around for me to hug so I just jumped up and down a bit. _________________ Alliance, n. Thank you very much for the compliment, Firestalker5! Your comment has put this perpetual smile on my face, and it's only 8AM.

Les, thank YOU for including PodCulture in your "thank you" list. Imagine my supprise when I heard that! The Signal was one of our biggest influences in getting out show up and running. _________________ www.PodCulture.net --- "Equal Opportunity Geekness"

Thank you all so much! It is humbling to hear the impact that my Thanks segment has had on you. I consider myself to be a mediocre writer at best, so I mostly stick to just banter in the podcast. I got the idea for the segment while listening to I'm Gonna See Serenity by Dan Sehane off the DTI soundtrack and it really got me thinking of everything we have already achieved together. When I started writing it I was truly amazed as the list of everyone and everything that we have to be thankful for kept growing and growing.
Les
p.s. Thanks for the shiny banner Plastic Rocket! _________________ Tech Geek & Host of for Signal Serenity & Firefly podcast

Echo all the above sentiments.
Further thoughts stimulated by "Passing Time in the Black":
Can't recall the episode off the top of my head, but I'm sure I once noticed Inara setting up a game of mahjong.
And what were Kalyee and River doing on the floor of the cargo bay ... playing knucklebones, was it? _________________ Hell, I've been to the edge. |

There's no 'delete' button on this board for if you accidentally post duplicate messages? _________________ Hell, I've been to the edge.

Jacks, yes.
>>Shameless plug<< I reference that in my story "Downtime," now available on the most recent edition of "Tales from the 'Verse" (http://www.talesfromtheverse.com/index.shtml) at fine podcatchers everywhere.

This is just to let ya'll know there IS a Firefly online game! It's a mod for the Neverwinter Nights rpg. Unfortunately, it can be played only with a DM controlling it. Also, you must have NWN already installed. Seek more info at Neverwinter Vault.

Which is the perfect lead in to plug the game I'm running
I'm starting a Firefly Neverwinter Nights (the original one - not NWN2) game in early January, and thought people here might be interested.
I plan to run Forrestwolf's superb Hero of Canton as a one off Firefly adventure on Tuesday January 9th at 7:30 PM GMT, and assuming that goes well start a full campaign running weekly two weeks later.
Forrestwolf's conversion of Firefly for Neverwinter Nights only requires the original Neverwinter nights although more functionality is available if you have one or both of the two expansions.
I would include a full background here, but I feel I would be duplicating effort. Its based on Joss Whedon's Firefly / Serenity and the game webpage gives a good background to what is required. The game is here:
http://www.neverwinterconnections.com/games/index.cfm/fuseaction/displaygame/id/25419.htm
I'm accepting applications now, but will make a decision on which players to accept between Christmas and the New Year (to give people time to get their applications in). I will favour those with backgrounds which fit the Firefly 'verse.
Any new players to NWN are very, very welcome. You will need a copy of Neverwinter nights, but considering its been sold by Amazon.co.uk (with both expansions) for a mere £10 (UK)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neverwinter-Nights-Deluxe-Special-PC/dp/B000ANY6X4/sr=1-2/qid=1166443640/ref=sr_1_2/203-5732930-1943967?ie=UTF8&s=videogames
and amazon.com (again with both expansions) for $15 (US)
http://www.amazon.com/Atari-Neverwinter-Nights-Platinum/dp/B00029QORW/sr=8-8/qid=1166785404/ref=pd_bbs_sr_8/002-4704692-6455242?ie=UTF8&s=videogames
its not a huge investment.
Cheers,
