So are you saying we need to start releasing a "directors" cut of the podcast?

We love to hear from our listeners so feel free to just leave a simple message if you want. It doesn't need to be "ground breaking".

We purposefully limit the show to 74 minutes. This one actually came in four seconds under that limit. 74 minutes is (so Les tells me) the limit of what can be guaranteed to burn onto a CD. There are also practical reasons why we only make one show a fortnight.
However, we are always interested to hear what people thing about stuff like epsiode length - is it too long? is it too short? Keep telling us. _________________

Im sorry. Its just that you both have great voices. I can listen all day to ya.
Imagine a radio show(s)
Wake up with Les and Kari
Drive time Kari
Late Show Les
KB Lunch
i dunno, the possibilities are endless. But I do know that I would quite happily swap you for Chris Moyles (and please, nobody send that comment into Radio 1, I dont want to be yelled at over national radio) _________________ keep flying, stay shiny, and lets get that gorram trilogy! |

I should probably take the early show. I am not so good late at night, I am much more of an early riser.
Thanks

You should be able to "right click" on the file and depending whether you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox you should see an option similar to "save file as" or "save link as". Choose that and you should be able to download the entire file to your computer.

Are you trying to download it to disk then play it? Or play it straight inside your browser? Or in an external mp3 player? How big is the file that downloads? The mp3 file is 53,282,252 bytes (50.81MB), so if you are getting any less than that it sounds like a download problem.

Well I tried playing on the browser and it's doing the same thing as when I right click "Save as...". I don't have a MP3 Player so that's not it, but it has to be a download problem.
I'm only getting 157KB.... TOTAL!
I using Mozilla Firefox..... should I try using Explorer?
EDIT: Explorer worked..... Thanks for the help. _________________ A writer on:

Glad IE worked for you. I suspect it wasn't a "Firefox" problem, more of a browser cache issue that was resolved by trying with a different browser. I also tested with Firefox and it downloaded completely and successfully.

I had to stop and listen to the part about Sherlock Holmes about five times and make sure it wasn't something I wrote. Ha! I have been a Sherlockian since I was 9 years old. Met Les Klinger (the guy who has done the most recent annotated version of the Holmesian canon) when I was in highschool and even started my own Sherlock Holmes society. Holmes was my first real entre into getting involved in a fandom, so hearing another Browncoat wax poetical about it was amazing.
Thanks for everyone's hard work! _________________ Tabz, Slayer of the Podcasts.

I should get extra special brownie points for this one. I'm giving feedback on an episode I haven't even listen to yet. Let no one doubt my dedication to the Signal or my fondness for my own voice, ok you can't actually hear me; not that I sit at my computer declaming this in a mock theatrical voice. Sorry there is a thing most people have that tells them to shut up or stop typing, I guess i was out the day they were handing it out. Anyway ramble over. I do like the very shiny new album artwork for season three. I would love to listen to this episode but there was this earthquake in Taiwan over the hols that knocked out some kind of undersea cable that has made the internet in China SLOW. For websites its mostly ok but orget about downloading stuff. It took me almost an hour to download under 20 minutes worth of the latest episode of Strangely Literal, I just can't get anything longer than that download at the moment. _________________ Alliance, n. Ouch. I had heard about the earthquake and related connectivity problems. If you can't wait for them to fix it, you could always buy an airplane ticket to another area of the globe and download it there

I notice this is larger than for the previous series, which were more like 30 MB each. Have you upped the quality of the recording? _________________ Hell, I've been to the edge. |

We sure did. We made some changes to how we encode our mp3 files that are of higher audio quality and hopefully compatible with a wider range of mp3 players. The net result of which is a larger file (around %50 bigger).

That really sucks laoshi - does something like the podcast pickle player work better for you? Since you're not technically downloading the episode? It might be something to look into with your slow connectivity. _________________ Tabz, Slayer of the Podcasts.

Hey guys, I love the podcast, but I must say, I'm a little bit disappointed with the intro because you took out my favorite quote. Every podcast in season 2 always gave me rekindled hope when I heard the words, "As sure as I know anything, I know this...we WILL bring Firefly back." Probably a stupid question, but you haven't given up, have you?

Technical questions were never my forte I'm using Itunes because I have an Ipod and as you keep telling us you don't have to own one to listen to podcasts but its what I got. I may give pickle a try if its not fixed soon. I won't be flying around the world, but thanks for the suggestion Les.
P.S. Jayhawk are you mad? We're Browncoats the whole ethos is about keeping going long after sane people have decided its not worth it. _________________ Alliance, n. Duh!
If we ever give up, we'll stop making the podcast! No, nothing worrisome like that. We change the theme tune every year for variety, and we're coming at it from a different angle, that's all. I think the key quote now is Joss's "I want us to do this together". _________________

Thanks. I was rereading the introduction to my eBook collection of Holmes stories, and it just, I dunno, came over me. Glad you liked it.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love my iPod, and now my MacBook.. I just say it several times during the podcast 'cuz there are people who directly download one episode (especially my writers) and I want them to know they can still listen to podcasts and subscribe without an iPod...
Plus, I think my parents are still confused about the whole thing. _________________ Tabz, Slayer of the Podcasts.
