It's a very rough translation, but Babelfish returns this:

Hello Mr. The signal, They received no more call for 90 days on your call Manager.de call number! Their call number: 01805-233633-00412 This email was produced automatically by the system. Yours sincerely, It call Manager.de - team

Yeah, we already did the Babelfish thing, and we read that very text in our feedback section. (Kevin did a cool robot voice). What we don't know is whether or not the number is still valid.

Hey, wasn't the Sci-Fi Review good this week!? Very Happy There's Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow...

Zoe did mention that her father was a military man. I'm sure she mentioned it in one of the earlier episodes of FireFly

Right, so they're just moaning, and not actually cancelling it. That's good. Thanks.

You know, the more I think about, the more I must conclude that Zoe was not career military.

First off, I don't recall that Zoe mentioned anything like that in any episode of Firefly. and moreover, I have all the scripts and transcripts in plain text format, and searching for "father", "dad" and "parent" yeilds nothing relevant.

To make matters more interesting, Mal's Alliance record, a prop from the movie, contains the following text:
Mal's Alliance Record wrote:
promoted to Segeant, 57th Overlanders, an all-volunteer battalion

Seems to me, if the 57th Overlanders was an all-volunteer battalion, then Zoe must have been a volunteer.

Let me suggest one possible source for the "Zoe is career military" rumor. I think it started in the Signal's interview with Gina Torres. Gina said that she pictured Zoe as being career military, but that was just Gina's opinion at the time, not canon.

It could be that the 57th were all volunteer, but it doesn't need to mean that they volunteered for the military, they could have volunteered for the unit from other areas of the military.

Just a thought.

I don't think it would be possible to maintain any large military unit as "pure" volunteer. If a career military person wanted to be in it, for whatever reason, they could in the worst case resign their commission and re-enlist as a volunteer. More likely I suspect that the military would sprinkle the unit with people from the traditional ranks to help with training and building of military skills. Another possibility is that Zoe may have been career military in a predominantly purplebelly unit. When the war started she left and ended volunteered into the browncoats. If I remember right, that kind of thing happened a lot in the US Civil War.

2 cents from the author:

Les, interesting point about Zoe perhaps switching sides. However, you are confusing volunteer with career military. Being career military and a volunteer are not mutually exclusive.

A volunteer is somebody who signed up of their own accord, and not by conscription or being drafted. Both a career military individual and a reservist could both be volunteers. In fact, the entire United States miliary is a volunteer force, whether or not the military is their career or if it its a second job that they undertake when called up.

It seems reasonable to me that both sides may have conscripted draftees to fight in the war, but neither Mal nor Zoe was drafted. There's no direct evidence to say whether or not Zoe was drafted per se, but I think with the info we have, it'd be hard to argue that she was (Her loyalty to Mal, her reaction to the Alliance officers in Bushwacked, and so on).

It's much more ambiguous as to whether Zoe is career military or not. It's something we'll all agree to disagree on, I think.

Shiny! We do love to receive voice messages.

Great point GBG! When I was thinking "volunteer", I wasn't thinking at all of volunteer vs draft/mandatory service. I was more thinking of "volunteer" in a militia vs regulars context.... which in hindsight is probably not the best way to look at it.

after just listening to it again, I hear that you found some frames for the blueprints. Can you tell me where?

The only ones I can find are £9 ones sized A1 (quite a bit bigger than the blueprints) And at £9 per frame, Im spending twice as much on frames than I actullaly spent of the blueprints themselves.

I found the frames at Michaels (http://www.michaels.com/) for $10 each. I am not sure if there is a Michaels anywhere near you, and if so if they have the same inventory, but it might be worth checking out.

I found some 18x24 frames online for $9.

http://www.adorama.com/FRPFM1824BK.html?searchinfo=22834&item_no=1

Unfortunately, it looks like the shipping costs to the UK will more than eat up any savings.

hmmm.... well

$8.95 * 9 + $179.50 = $260.05

which is about £131.92.
Shocked
Thanks for trying though. It was a good idea. Im gonna start looking through charity shops. They often have huge clip frames in

I wonder if I can make frames.
