Much better then the first three.... we see more personality out of all the principals this time and poor Echo is not as perfect as we thought!
Good action, great dialog and perfect amount of suspense. I liked how the plot was kept simple. Makes it easier to follow so that the viewer can concentrate on the characters.
This episode could have easily been from the 'verse if you put River in Echo's spot. Jayne and Wash into the vault. Zoe in the van while Mal and Simon are back on the ship trying to figure out some kind of rescue while Kaylee talks on the com about opening the door. The art specialist that they hired could have even been Saffron...
(I kept expecting to hear someone swear in Chinese... LOL)
The break into the vault was a little easy in my opinion but other than that... everything very believable and acceptable.
Lots of great lines including the "Talking cuccumber" but best line this episode was given by Topher again: "It's not my fault"! (Said in the best Han Solo whine not once but 3 times)
Also... I mentioned in the 3rd episode thread that it was hard to tell the Goodguys from the Badguys. Well, that is funny as in "The Grey Area" one of the characters points out who the "badguys" are! I thought these episodes were filmed in advance?
I have heard a few people saying that the early episodes were written spicifically for FOX and eventually Joss has full reign with regard to writing and directing with the later stories. If this is true then FOX executives are the one's who are getting stupider.
But I do have to give them cudo's for giving us Fringe and 24 and House... so I guess it's a wash. (oh... Wash!)
