|
|
| You may already know that a few months ago there was a DVD/ Blue glove mailing campaign on SaveFirefly.org. Our leader FongLuh decided it was time for a new campaign, and it will be a wavecard campaign. Currently the site is under construction (it should be back up in the next couple days), but the forums are still up at www.savefirefly.org/forum. We're currently looking for some fresh blood and maybe some suggestions and ideas. |

I just wanted everyone to know the revamp is done, and the site is back up. Oh, and we just got a mention on The Signal! Yay! _________________ www.savefirefly.org

Yes, this a new site, with a totally directed focus on guerilla marketing and other methods that may bring the Browncoats desires to the atention of those in power at Universal Studios. If you want to really participate in any efforts to bring our BDH's and the BDM back to the silver screen, head over and join the forums.
We've just embarked on the new Wave/Post card campaign, so we'll see what comes of it.
And, rather than being a topic among many in this forum, SaveFirefly is ONLY about getting what the Browncoats want.

Looking good!
The website is already pretty brilliant, but I have some suggestions to make it possibly even better....?
One minor quibble - I thought we were "Browncoats" (one word, no space, lowercase 'c'), not "Brown Coats", as we are described on the SaveFirely.org website. I'm not sure I like being called a Brown Coat - it feels weird.
Also - a web design suggestion: I surf the web with scripts, flash and iframes disabled on purpose. When I visit SaveFirefly.org, I see a lot of blank rectanges with NoScript's blocked content symbol. If I might be so bold as to suggest, perhaps a link at the top of the page that says "View this site in HTML only"? Or better still, how about not bouncing me over to http://www.savefirefly.org/template_5958/site_flash/index.html in the first place, if you detect (on http://www.savefirefly.org/ itself) that scripting is disabled, and bounce me somewhere different instead? (The "site_flash" in the URL is a bit of a giveaway).
On the technical front, the flash page is incorrectly declared as XHTML 1.0 Strict. (It looks like HTML 4.01 to me). If you're unsure, you can validate any web page here: http://validator.w3.org/. Currently, you get 105 errors listed.
But my gripes are minor, so you could just ignore them (well, apart from the "Brown Coat" thing ). It certainly looks extremely professional and is bound to do our cause some good. Well done! _________________

LOL Sorry about that. I wrote that bit of the site a long time ago, not realizing at the time the difference between "Brown Coat" and "Browncoat". Anyway, thanks for pointing that out, I fixed that
I hate to say it, but as for the other issues, I'm not sure I can do anything about them. I didn't design the site, but I bought it as template. I know a little about Flash, just enough to put the links in there that I wanted. I honestly wouldn't know how to make a plain HTML version of it.
I'll definitely look into though, I'm not dismissing your comments completely. I want everyone to be able to be a part of the site. |

| Belatedly found this thread and discovered the link to be invalid. Are there plans to bring it back? |
