I thought this was very well done. The sound effects and background music added perfectly to the story -- which itself swept along nicely, fitted exactly within canon yet also added some clever twists to it. Brilliant. Thanks to all concerned. _________________ Hell, I've been to the edge. |

Thanks, glad you liked it. It was a lot of fun to make, and Anna was brilliant with the voicing.
And of course it heralds the return of Borderline, coming soon to a Signal near you. _________________

Thank you! I had a great time reading it. I read the first chapter and was really excited to get through the rest. |

The thing that I loved most about writing this story was that I was really able to play with language, in the form of Grace's speech. She has a style of her own, and borrows words from all manner of places to suit that style. Where else would you get to write "And now our love is sundered, rent for a poison pate jilt, and all for a rapacious blackguard lay'd up in lavender"?
The translation into English of that sentence is:
rent = torn apart
poison pate = red haired
jilt = female trickster
rapacious = greedy
blackguard = bastard
lay'd up in lavender = in debt
Perhaps even more fun was Kwok Fi's reply: "Ni Na Negn Yong Jhong Wen Shuo Ma?" ... or, "Can you say that in Chinese?" (I suspect she probably couldn't).
...and so it goes on...
Oh, and let us not forget the band, the Flying Stationers...
Flying Stationers = Ballad-singers and hawkers of penny histories. _________________

Howdy, remember me? Can't recall exactly when I first subscribed to the Signal -- think it was after ep 2 or 3 -- but I've been listening since ep 1. Anyway, I took a couple of years off after season 3, and am now catching up. I love the majority of your stuff, like the rest, but am rarely moved to comment.
This ep goes to 11. It's better than you've been for @least the last year (I haven't had to wait two weeks between eps, so I'm pretty confident in that assessment), maybe years. And that was before I realized the identity of the Counterfeit Companion. Jill Arroway's still got it. This was Firefly.

Well shucks. Thank you for saying so.
Ooh - that's interesting. In the story, I'm assuming that Grace would not have had access to authentic sources of pronunciation (from her point of view, from centuries past in another solar system!) so she probably made up her own based on the spelling. Most of her guesses are unlikely to have been accurate. (That's my story anyway, and I'm sticking to it ). _________________
