Well, Comrades, seeing the Big Damn Replica at DragonCon was a hypnotic experience. I'm sorry I missed getting on the pre-order list back August, but was then told I could sign up, which I promptly did.
I got the email, and I was so excited. I then looked at the price tag and had a major moral crisis. Gee, this is about twice what I give to charities all year long, or hm, even if I paid this for a brand, new musical instrument, could I justify it? or this is the price of 3 trips to DragonCon, including all the autographs. Then, I thought. ART! This is a great piece of art! But, even so, I don't think I'm going to buy one. One must know where to set one's limits.

I unfortunately haven't had a chance to see it, other than the available pictures. Sad to say, the price is out of my range, as well. But I must admit that replica looks to be a darn grand piece of work, and wish I had the extra to spend on something like that!

Even with the preorder discount of $500 that only brings the price down to $2,000.00. That is nearly three mortgage payments for me. I just can't justify that kind of cost. Sure it's shiny, has great detail and all that, but $2k?!?

Maybe if I hit the lottery, knock over a payroll train, or have a rich aunt back in the Core that leaves me a large inheritance I can swing it. Now? Not so much.
