And of course, my server is down because my dad always manages to contract with the worst servers (it didn't even host PHP pages until we bombarded them with emails in the summer)
So if anyone is actually interested, I have set up a temporary site, that is still under construction but contains some links, that will be updated slowly in the next two weeks.

This was such an awesome project for me to do and I can't wait to listen to all the songs, so I am going to start downloading them now! _________________ Shiny...Let's be bad guys! |

| It will be worth it! The only one that I paused long enough to listen to fully was Bentley Ousley's "Drama on the Prairie", but all of the tracks are shiny! |

Wow, thanks for Volume II!! A nice Christmas surprise; thanks to all involved. I loved the first volume and would have worn it out, if you could wear out a CD.
One question: is there any chance that we'll see a higher bitrate version of "5-15 The Brobdingnagian Bards - She Said Her Name Was Saffron.mp3"? It's only at 96 kbps in both the special podcast feed and the direct website download. [All the others are 128-320kbps.] When I reviewed it before burning a test disc, it's a bit 'thin' when compared to the other tracks. Just wondering....
Thanks again to all and especially to all those who produce The Signal - I've been a fan since the run-up to the movie (2005?!?) and love seeing you guys drop into my feed!!!
Merry New Year!

As far as we are aware, no higher bitrate version exists. It was a live recording!
Other performances of the song exist - including the studio recording we played in episode 16 of season 5 - but unfortunately, the version on SftBII was recorded live from one of the Dragon*Cons, and we've given you the best we've got.
As for the studio version... Who knows? Maybe there'll be a volume three one day. (We couldn't put the studio version into SftBII because it didn't air on the Signal in season 3 or season 4). No promises, but you know us - we like to please. _________________

The studio version by Marc Gunn (formerly of The Brobdigagian Bards who he performed that live version with) that Jill refers to was Marc's entry in the Sing a song of Saffron competition a couple of years back (I think it was www.serenitystuff.com that ran it?) It in fact won the competition (Marian Call's It Was Good For You Too was the very worthy runner up). Both of these may still be out there...and of course we have the copy we played in Season 5. We did play Marian's track in Season 4 so it "qualified" for SFTB II and that's the copy that is available for download. There is in fact a newer studio version of this on her album Got To Fly, but we haven't played that on The Signal.

OK; thanks Jill, thanks Nick. I appreciate the input. The disc came out pretty fine anyway & I'm now using Lindsay's fine cover art to burn the disc label. Excellent artwork Lindsay! |

The cover + inlay + back look so fine, I might actually burn the Songs to CD to put them on my shelf. It would be kinda pointless to burn the CD in terms of data storage since I have it on two hard disks and my iPod anyway, but the art looks so good...
I got to find out where to print labels near me, otherwise it would be "yaay Kaylee... yuuuck blank CD" every time I'd open it
Thanks a lot, Signal crew! |

I finally got to hear these songs while I waited in the DMV for something. Fantastic song,s especially the ones who praise Summer Glau, Mudder's Milk, Evil Laughs, and th enew version of Mal's Song. It's amazing how many songs this show inspires. When was the last time anyone wrote a song for Star Trek? _________________ see my blogs at http://360.yahoo.com/impalergeneral or

You're welcome
Lindsay put a lot of work into the art and there was a lot of fine tuning going on behind the scenes which has really paid off.
We did consider doing a CD label, but there are so many formats out there that a PDF of one type might not fit the label sheet of another. (I have experimented with this for Badgers World CDs) I'd suggest simply using whichever label format you want and pasting in the Kaylee png as the art and printing it so no more yuccky blank CD
And making the CD hard copy for the original SFTB and First Rule of Flying: Songs from the Black II is well worth doing - I have converted at least one person via the CD and they look just great if you take time to do it nicely. (I recommend using photo paper and a good sharp knife (minding fingers!) for a really professional look)
