The link from the podcast website (http://signal.serenityfirefly.com/signal.php) gives you an error when you try to download the podcast manually. The file name appears to be incorrect. I believe it has a 001 in the name when it should be 002.
The correct link which I got from the RSS feed is...

I'll leave some feedback and topic ideas once I finish listening.
Thanks,

Well spotted. I will fix that shortly. |

For podcast cross promotions you might want to contact Aaron at SciFiDig.com. As you mentioned in The Signal #1 he has started reviewing Firefly episodes in his most recent show #8 which was just posted yesterday. He also posted a promo yesterday. I believe his email address is scifidig@gmail.com.
The other podcast you might want to swap promos with is Skepticality (http://www.skepticality.com). On their first podcast they mentioned how much they enjoyed the Serenity advance screening that they attended.

1. The analysis on Book was fun, content-wise - it was great to hear all the clues gathered in one spot. The narrator's disappearing-reappearing faux accent was highly annoying.
2. The Quote from Joss is actually from a short recorded video clip shown at all theaters before the pre-screener, so technically should be considered a spoiler. I was surprised to hear it, considering how spoiler-free you're trying to keep things. |

Eh, that's no spoiler. It's highly unlikely that will be attached to the movie when it's released. Hopefully it makes the DVD though. _________________ Keep Flyin!

I get the following when clicking on the link for episode 2 podcast.
Got error 127 from table handler Query: [INSERT INTO `stats` (IP, requested_file, requested_server, time, request, status, bytes, referer, user_agent, account, media_node) VALUES ('12.223.97.66', 'signal_002_20050706.mp3', 'www.libsyn.com', '20050706215928', 'GET /podcasts/thesignal/signal_002_20050706.mp3 HTTP/1.1', '200', '29383872', 'http://signal.serenityfirefly.com/signal.php', 'Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7. Loved the 1st episode, and would like to hear this one.

I love episode 2 as much as I loved the first. I like that there are audio clips from listeners, rather than just the writing from emails. Keep up the good work!

Well that's me totally baffled.
The link is just an ordinary HTML hyperlink. It was wrong originally but it's fixed now. It now points to the right place and (for me at least) works just fine. |

Excellent work on the second episode!
Here's some random stuff that popped into my head while listening (and that happened to be in easily accessible bits on the hard drive)...
------------------------------
Additional Serenity release dates.
September 29 – Australia and the Netherlands
October 19 - France
October 28 - Italy
November 11 - Brazil
November 18 - Denmark
(au) http://www.moviemarshal.com/releasedates-upcoming.html
(nl) http://www.uip.nl/serenity.html (via WHEDONesque)
(fr) http://www.uipfrance.com/fiche.php?type=AVENIR
(it) http://www.uip.it/ (select “in arrivo” and then “Serenity”)
(br) http://whedonesque.com/?comments=6523
(dk) http://www.uip.dk/uipweb/website/PremiereListe.php?status=Premiere
* imdb has assorted Serenity release dates but that site is notoriously inaccurate ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/releaseinfo )
-------------------------------
May 5th pre-screening cast appearances:
Seattle - Adam Baldwin (Jewel cancelled due to Stargate:Atlantis gig)
San Francisco - Gina Torres and Alan Tudyk (and they were so very cool - Alan got us laughing early when he yelled out, "What!?!" after Joss' onscreen comment about the lack of major stars and big budget. Sounds like Nathan picked up the baton and did something similar at the June 23rd pre-screening).
Las Vegas - Summer Glau and Joss Whedon
Boston - Morena Baccarin and Sean Maher
Austin - Ron Glass and Nathan Fillion
May 26th pre-screening appearances:
Washington, DC - Morena Baccarin
Chicago - Summer Glau
Sacramento - Nathan Fillion
Minneapolis - Ron Glass
Denver - Jewel Staite
Portland - Chris Buchanan
Atlanta - Loni Peristere
Hartford - Keith DeCandido
Alan Tudyk cancelled due to Broadway production of Spam-A-Lot.
Not sure if Gina Torres, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, or Joss Whedon showed up at any of the theaters.
June 23rd pre-screening appearances:
Houston - Summer Glau
Vancouver - Jewel Staite
Los Angeles (Riverside) - Joss Whedon
Miami - Gina Torres
New York (New Jersey) - Morena Baccarin
Toronto - Sean Maher
Phoenix - Nathan Fillion
Indianapolis - Ron Glass
Charlotte - Chris Buchanan
Boston - Loni Peristere
Alan Tudyk busy with Spam-A-Lot on Broadway
Adam Baldwin attending London Film and Comic Convention
-------------------------
I really enjoyed the section on Book and the related clips. The Our Mrs. Reynolds scene contains probably my favorite Mal-Book interaction. It's just a little non-verbal exchange that takes place before Book starts in on his explanation. Mal looks at the screen. Someone asks what it is. Mal looks at Book for confirmation and Book nods. Then Mal says that it's a net. I thought it was telling that Mal has come to rely on Book's knowledge about crime-related things. He may not know Book's background, but he trusts his expertise.
Of course, I could be reading way too much into one look and one nod
-------------------------
In regards to the international trailer.
UIP (the international distributor for Serenity) did not even show up at the London Film and Comic Convention. Here's their press release regarding what happened:
http://www.buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=10182
The new rumor about the European trailer (which comes from a pretty reliable source - one of the UK Browncoats, Gossi) is that the international trailer will be aired on UK television this Friday. Here are the relevant details:
http://whedonesque.com/comments/7138
It's probably a good bet that the trailer will make its way onto some web page shortly thereafter.
------------------
Once again, great stuff. You all have done some outstanding work. Keep it up!
Cheers,
SoupCatcher
PS In the spirit of making unreasonable requests of those who are already doing fantastic...
One potential blurbly type thing could be the amazon.com sales rank of the Firefly DVD boxed set. Sales have gone absolutely ape-shit crazy over the past few weeks:

Hey gang! Just joined to give ya my enthusiastic thumbs up for your work on The Signal! Podcasts are truly taking internet activity to a whole new level and its a really exciting time, especially for Browncoats. Thanks to everyone who contribute to make the show something genuinely special. I have to say that episode 2 show sounded much better with two hosts. Love the Chinese segment, the character profile on Book, and of course, the news. Can't get enough news!
I'm a professional voice actor and DJ currently in Dallas, with work in anime, audio books, national radio, video games, and would love to help contribute content for the podcast. Thanks again for making this happen, and keep up the excellent work! _________________ www.kylehebert.com

OKay yeah, so I am so incredibly stunned and buzzing with adreneline right now. You want to know why? Because Kari read my email on the special edition #2 podcast. I was completely shocked when Les said my name, I immediately screamed and was shaking with excitement. I can't belive it! I never thought that my email would be read because it seems like there have been more audio clips presented. Thank you so much for reading it! It truly made my day!
p.s. Les, you did pronounce my last name correctly. Which is very odd becasue most people do not.

Hehe...I know how you feel. Michael and Evo read an email of mine on their last Slice of SciFi and I freaked. Glad we could brighten your day.

I loved the costume section. It will definitely come in handy for the movie.
The section about Book also appealed to me for his secret has been the subject of many debates between my cousin, who introduced the series to me, myself, and the others in our D&D campaign. His secret, as well as Inara's (recall the needle in Serenity). Less River's since we known that debating River's secret has led to yelling and actual fights.
Oh, and Our Mrs. Reynolds was the third episode of the second disk. Sorry if I sound picky. I just spent my volunteer time at the hospital memorizing all the episodes in order once. In the words of my best friend, that makes me a loser. Also a bad, bad person since I did it when I was supposed to be assisting the patients. Not that they really took to me. >.>
Sorry.
Great episode! _________________ In space, no one can hear you swear in Chinese.

Loved the shows. Keep up the great work and hope to hear more.
Just wanted to add one thing about the speculation of Book. When Jubel Early says "That's no Shepherd." you have to remember that when he was asked if he was a bounty hunter by Simon, Jubel said "no" And when asked who he was Jubel then says "A Bounty Hunter." So I wouldn't take what he says about Book seriously. Jubel seems to have selective hearing. |

I'm halfway through the signal #2, and I loved segment on "who is shepherd book".
The clues were always right there. It's nice to have someone put them all together and add some speculation at the end.
Excellent! |

Amen. The article do tend to run a little long. But please avoid the fake accents whenever possible. Overall the production value of this podcast is excellent. I'm overwhelmed by the work you guys have put into it. |
